| Eight people found dead in murder-suicide in rural Missouri Posted: 27 Feb 2015 11:28 AM PST A man shot and killed seven people in a house-to-house shooting spree in a sparsely populated area in rural Missouri before shooting himself, the state Highway Patrol said on Friday. Texas County Coroner Tom Whittaker told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper that the victims of the rampage on Thursday night included three women and four men. Authorities also found an elderly woman dead of what appeared to be natural causes as they searched homes. "Anytime you see families that go to this level of violence, it's a shame." The events unfolded around 10 p.m. Thursday night when the Texas County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of a disturbance involving a weapon at a residence in the unincorporated community of Tyrone in the south-central part of the state. |
| Seattle-area high schools hit with threats, high school cancels classes Posted: 27 Feb 2015 10:59 AM PST Two Seattle-area high schools were evacuated on Friday after receiving security threats, and another high school in Washington state heightened its security after a threatening message was scrawled on a bathroom wall. Interlake High School in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue was put on lockdown and classroom doors were locked with students inside, the Bellevue School District said in a statement on its website. "At this time the District and the Bellevue Police Department have made the decision to close Interlake High for the remainder of the school day and to release students," the district said. Bellevue Police said on Twitter they were investigating "Facebook rumors of a shooting" at the school but said the department had received no emergency calls of shots fired. |
