The same conditions would apply to children of same-sex couples recommended for missionary service.


Texas state judge shot in front of home; shooter still at large

Police were searching on Saturday for a suspect in the shooting of a Texas state judge in the driveway of her home, authorities said. District Judge Julie Kocurek, 51, was in serious but stable condition at a local hospital shortly past midnight (0600 GMT), police said. Kocurek was shot in front of witnesses outside her home in an upscale neighborhood near downtown Austin, the state capital, at around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, police said.

Two Louisiana officers arrested in shooting of boy, 6, and father

The officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on the boy's father in the central Louisiana community of Marksville, authorities said. State police were still piecing together what led to Tuesday's shooting and had reviewed footage captured on the officers' body cameras, Colonel Michael Edmonson, superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, said during a Friday press conference announcing the arrests.

Both the flight data and voice recorders failed 24 minutes after the plane took off from Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh resort en route to Saint Petersburg on October 31, when it plummeted from the sky into the Sinai Peninsula killing all 224 people on board. Cairo and Moscow initially dismissed a claim Islamic State (IS) jihadists downed the plane, but mounting evidence that the Airbus A321 was attacked has prompted a growing list of governments to warn against travel to Sharm el-Sheikh.
